REJECTED: DoubleMill (for showing locked premium-only features)
This is nothing new, but … I often get asked about this topic by new iPhone developers, and recently I saw a particularly simple and clear example of:
you cannot tease your users with features they can never get with that particular version

Now … I need to keep an eye out for a good counter-example: apps that do *almost exactly the same thing*, but are officially allowed by Apple (feel free to tweet if you see one – @redglassesapps). The line between “OK” and “not OK” is pretty fine, but once you get a feel for it, it’s very easy to stick on the “OK” side of it.

The MLB At Bat Lite app does almost the same thing. There are numerous buttons to let you watch or listen to the games, but you must upgrade to the premium version. Once you upgrade (I did), you actually are supposed to upgrade AGAIN to some subscription service or other (I didn’t bother).
